Security Guard Dogs |
Sentinel Security has employs a K9 Guard Dog Rapid response team capable of attending alarm responses, break and enters, building searches, apprehension of persons on site and for use as a deterrent.
Sentinel Security’s Dog Services are ideal for the following situations;
- Sites with restricted line of sight e.g. large construction projects, warehouses, trucking yards, car yards, caravan and train yards.
- Areas too dangerous for security guards alone
- For protection of persons or property under threat
- Large areas e.g. theme parks, recreation events
- Sites that are particularly vulnerable to thieves, vandalism or other illegal activities due to insufficient lighting or remoteness e.g. passenger terminals, car parks, commercial and industrial areas
- Detector Training—narcotics, explosives or accelerants, weapons, etc.
The Canine
Studies show the valuable effect that the mere presence of a Dog has on the potential criminal.
The Canine, under direction of the handler, will provide the most effective deterrent to crime available today. The satisfaction of our clients reflect this. Numerous companies which suffered a weekly loss have routinely reported that their loss has dropped to zero after employing the services of Sentinel Security’s Dog Services.
The dog’s sense of smell is two thousand times greater than that of a human and dogs have the ability to smell each scent separately. It is for this reason that the dog is a valuable aid in locating subjects that attempt to conceal themselves. When a suspect is located, the dog alerts telling the handler that he has located the suspect and if the suspect then attempts to injure the handler, in an attempt to escape, the canine will make the apprehension.
It is the policy of this company that the canine will be kept on leash at all times. This is to ensure that the canine will, at no time, work in any form or function without the direction of the handler.
Guard Dog Training
Apart form basic compatibility guard dog training, all staff undergo comprehensive training before they are allowed to work on site with a guard dog.
The guard dog training is ongoing on a regular basis. This security training is beneficial both for the handlers and the guard dogs.
There are occasions when the added deterrent and enhanced security of guard dogs can be very effective. For example, a typical outdoor compound housing a hundred or more vehicles can be more effectively and economically controlled by a single man and dog team than by two or three static guards.
With superior speed, agility, hearing, sight and sense of smell, dogs are better equipped than humans and perform incredibly well in dim or poorly lit areas.
